Guggenheim 50

Yesterday I was uptown to check out the new Kandinsky exhibition at the Guggenheim. The museum is turning 50 this year and was letting everyone in for free for one day only. I was also banking that I’d spot some cool art kids in some cool art kicks. How could I not go?

Now let me qualify: I like art, a lot. Modern, contemporary, surrealism, cubism….name an ism and I probably like it. But I have to tell you…Kandinsky? Really? Maybe I missed the boat.

Now don’t let me persuade you from taking a visit. The Guggenheim is one of my favorite museums and has one of the world’s best permanent collections. I just wasn’t digging what they had on the walls on this go round. No pun intended.

Also quite disappointing was the lack of blogworthy footwear making the rounds on this day. Again no pun intended.

too abstract?

I guess sometimes you just can’t force the issue. Wonder if that idiom ever entered Wassily’s mind….
