High & Mighty: Air Force 1

Dope album cover...

Dope album cover...

The iTunes is on shuffle, and a track off the High & Mighty’s ‘Air Force 1’ EP just came on. I immediately thought of their ridiculously dope album cover (pictured above) from the 2002 release. Despite being a couple of Jewish dudes from suburban Pennsylvania, the High & Mighty are definitely no joke, and one of my favorite MC/DJ combos of the 90s. And they were rapping about Air Force 1’s long before Nelly was.

The De La Highs needed some love

Over the past two weeks the low top version of the De La Soul Dunk SBs have been getting some shine, so now it’s time to give it up for the High’s. Besides featuring the De La Soul ‘3 Feet High and Rising’ album cover, there really aren’t any similarities between the Low’s and the High’s.

So, last week we put up a picture from the archives of three different Dunk SBs – De La Souls, Rayguns, Avengers – and a poll question of which you would pick. The De La Souls (lows not highs) were the winner, so here they are by themselves, in all of their victorious glory.

Jerome's niece, on her way home from Jones Beach

Jerome's niece, on her way home from Jones Beach

It’s bugged! Nike Sportswear, a newer division of Nike, focused more on sport lifestyle than individual sport, crafted this Air Force 1 tribute to Jones Beach on Long Island. Whether heading to the beach or checking out a concert, most residents of the tri-state area have been there one time or another. The Jones Beach shoe however, is not nearly as accessible as Jones Beach is.
